For those who are traveling to Japan and visiting Osaka.
Where do you go when you come to Osaka?
“I want to play at USJ!”
Where should I eat?
“I want to go to Tsuruhashi, the Yakiniku town!”
Some may say.
Tsuruhashi has become a tourist destination, so you might be a little disappointed.
(Of course, there are many good shops, so don't worry.)
Osaka has several downtown areas.
In addition to the famous Kita and Minami areas, there are other popular areas as well.
To be honest, it would be a waste if I came to Osaka and only went to Umeda and Namba.
By the way, I have lived in Osaka for five years, and other than Kita and Minami, the places I often go to are Fukushima and Tenma.
Fukushima has recently become a popular gourmet spot, with many gourmet spots clustered around JR Fukushima Station.
There are many famous restaurants in Fukushima that have long lines, but the one I would like to recommend this time is Tenma.
If you are visiting for the first time, you will be surprised and even moved by this city.
That is "Tenma".
Tenjinbashisuji shopping street
Tenjinbashi-suji is a street lined up from 1-chome to 8-chome in a north-south direction, and Tenjinbashi Shopping Street is an arcade that stretches from 2-chome to 6-chome, where Osaka Tenmangu Shrine is located.
Tenjinbashi Shopping Street is the longest shopping arcade in Japan, stretching over 1.7km.
The shopping street is lined with a variety of stores, and you can have plenty of fun just strolling through the arcade.
If you like walking, I think it would be a good idea to extend your legs after enjoying Osaka Castle Park.
JR Temma Station South Exit
The core of the Tenjinbashi shopping district is the area around JR Tenma Station.
Kuroryu Tenjinro
At the south exit is a Chinese restaurant that I like to visit, ``Kokuryu Tenjinro''.
Osaka's gyoza have thin skin and are small, but as someone who grew up eating gyoza from the Kanto region, I find this a bit unsatisfactory.
Kokuryu's gyoza has a slightly thicker skin and is about the same size as Kanto gyoza.
The grilled eyes are crispy and the inside is juicy.
When I ate it for the first time, I was so impressed that I thought, "This is it!"
It is no exaggeration to say that it is the most palatable of Osaka's gyoza.
You won't be disappointed in anything you eat at Kokuryu, including the ``Mabo tofu'' with a numbing spiciness made with Japanese pepper.
The prices are relatively reasonable, so it's almost always full.
If you don't make a reservation, you often won't be able to get in, so please make a reservation before you go.
Uratenma
This is the core of Tenma.
The most core area of Tenma is the area called ``Ura Tenma''.
It is an area with many restaurants lined up in narrow alleys, making it a ``food wonderland'' where you can find anything you want to eat.
Of course, we also have ``kushikatsu'', ``takoyaki'', and okonomiyaki.
It seems that there was originally a market in Ura-Tenma, and that seems to have become the core area of Ura-Tenma.
Tenma market
A place where many people gather every morning to sell vegetables. From Tenjinbashi Kitazume-gami to the east to Tatsuta-cho. The one that used to be located in Minamizume, Kyobashi was moved here as a replacement site during the Keian era (1648-1652). From spring to December, there is not a single day to spare, especially the ``chestnut market'' and ``matsutake mushroom market'' in autumn, and the ``mandarin orange market'' in winter, which are night markets. It is said that the event was filled with people who were "awake and awakened."
Koan, the second generation of Osaka's wealthy merchant ``Yodoya,'' opened a vegetable market in his mansion that spread across the area of present-day Tenma 2-4, Kita-ku, Tenjinbashi 1-chome, and Minami-Tenma Park, and was established in the Edo period. It was a market that symbolized Osaka, which was known as the ``nation's kitchen'' at the time.
This is the ancestor of the current Tenma Market. After changing locations several times, in 1653, the market settled across Tenmabashi Bridge from Kitazume/Katahara-cho in Kyobashi (currently Minami-Tenma Park), which is the predecessor of Tenma Market.Exhibition:天満市場協同組合 活気あふれる浪速の台所「天満市場」より
A particularly popular spot in Uratenma is ``Chouchin Dori,'' a street with about 1,000 lanterns that are lit overhead, making them ``really eye-catching.''
The customer base varies depending on the store, from izakaya bars where middle-aged and elderly people gather to Italian bars filled with the enthusiasm of young people.
It is called ``Vinicy Street'' because the vinyl sheet fence extends all the way to the street.
The atmosphere is reminiscent of a market somewhere in Southeast Asia, and many first-timers are often overwhelmed by the excitement.
I've been to many cities on business, and I don't know of any other places like Uratenma.
Although it's quite a chaotic space, there are no bad people here, so even first-timers and female friends can enjoy the area with peace of mind.
There are no adult entertainment stores or strange shops, so there is no problem even if you bring children.
The good thing about Uratenma is that it has a very homely atmosphere, and it's easy to hit it off with the person sitting next to you and have a drink together.
The most surprising thing is the price.
It's cheap anyway! Depending on the store, it's surprisingly cheap!
It's good to research specific stores, but I think it's more fun to randomly jump into a store that looks good.
It's cheap, so you can have one drink and go to the next bar to enjoy bar hopping.
Isn't that the best way to enjoy it?

I've attached a map of the area around Uratenma, so I think it's a good idea to go a little early and look around before narrowing down your target.
JR Temma Station is at the bottom of the map.【google map】
To go to Ura-Tenma, exit the station from the north exit.
One street to the right (east) of the wide road on the left (Route R14) is Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street.
The area colored red is the downtown area of Tenma, and the dark red area is the core area of Ura-Tenma.
When you come to Osaka for a trip or business trip, Minami and Shinchi are good options, but please be sure to experience Osaka's most chaotic town, Ura-Tenma.
You will be able to witness a dazzling food wonderland.
